Bellevue, Wash. – June 26, 2009 – Univar, a world leader in chemical distribution, today announced that it has sold its Performance Polymers (PPI) business to Ravago.
PPI is a full-service distributor of plastics resins. It was founded in Leominster, Mass. in 1989. The company quickly grew as a distributor with a reputation for prompt, personal service. Over the years, PPI added key product lines to complement its strength in commodity resins. Through expansion and acquisition, PPI became a national distributor in the mid-1990s. It became part of the Univar family during the acquisition of Ellis & Everard in 2001.
Univar decided to sell PPI to Ravago as it no longer fit with Univar’s growth strategy in North America. Ravago is a global leader in distribution, compounding, and recycling of plastic resin. Ravago’s foot print in the America’s include Entec Polymers, Channel Prime Alliance, and Muehlstein. Entec will absorb the PPI sales force and go forward business stream of customers and suppliers.
