REDMOND, Wash. and SAN DIEGO, Calif. – April 19, 2010 – Univar USA and CP Kelco today announced new formulations containing natural origin biopolymers and alkyl polyglucoside (APG) natural surfactant.
The cosmetic market continuously searches for milder and greener ingredient options that provide not only performance and reasonable cost in use, but innovative texture and sensorial properties that create a luxurious experience for the consumer. APG's are typically used in shampoo and shower gel formulations because they allow a gentler product.
The current challenge formulators face today is finding ways to control and reach the desired rheology of formulations containing difficult to thicken APG´s. Another problem when formulating shampoos and shower gels is that other components of these formulations are usually synthetic and limit the biodegradability and friendly environmental and skin claims that could be possibly linked to these products.
As an answer to the personal care market needs and trends, Univar suggested a synergistic and greener solution to increase the viscosity of APG containing formulations: CP Kelco´s KeltrolŽ CG-SFT and GenuviscoŽ CG-131, EcoCert and NPA validated biopolymers and Univar’s APG’s.
